'Singles' now make me think of single candies representing ones in teaching the base-10 number system via the Candy Factory
One of my best friends sent me a link to this, and my first immediate response was a gigantic SIGH. "Another little shiny piece of advice from unappreciative and condescending church leaders on 'how to cope with being single'", I thought. They tell you not to pre-judge things for a reason.

My eyerolling was premature because this author does a 600000x better job of addressing singlehood within Christianity than I've seen anywhere else, and she does with excellent eloquence and a touch of humor. Her major point she drives home is that she is first and foremost a Christian, which means that she is automatically a child of God infinitely blessed, and that whether single or married, now and forever, God will continue to infinitely bless her. The end, period. Singledom isn't an excuse for self-indulgence (AHEM, gentlemen who like sitting on your butts playing video games), but it's also not a state of deprivation or pitiful punishment (AHEM, whiny girls who just want a boyfriend). It's an opportunity--not the sort of 'opportunity' for redemption one would find in a purgatory, no--but it is a blessing in its own right because as Brown writes, "I am single because God is so abundantly good to me, because this is his best for me. It is a cosmic impossibility that anything could be better for me right now than being single".
